Major Venues: 

1. Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

2. M. A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

M. A Chidambaram Stadium is one of the flagship cricketing stadiums, situated strategically in Chennai and offers excellent infrastructural facilities and security. Also known as the ‘Chepauk Stadium’, this venue has a long cricketing heritage and is the home ground of the Chennai Super Kings. 

This IPL 2024 venue with a capacity of 38,200 will offer a unique cricketing experience. The city's fans are known for their cricketing knowledge and ethics. 

3. Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi

The home ground of the Delhi Capitals is situated in Delhi and was formerly known as the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. The stadium is India’s second oldest functional cricket stadium and has a seating capacity of 48,000. 

Since 1948, it has been an important venue for domestic, international, and IPL matches due to the favourable factors that the ground offers.

4. Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Established in 1864, this is the most iconic and oldest of all IPL 2024 venues. Home to the Kolkata Knight Riders, this stadium in Kolkata is the third largest in the world. 

With a capacity to host 68,000 cricket-crazy fans, the atmosphere that the stadium can guarantee is electrifying. The stadium is often considered the Indian answer to the Roman Colosseum and is referred to as the Mecca of Cricket. 

5. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore

The stadium with a capacity of around 40,000 is centrally located in the garden city of Bangalore and is the home ground of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The IPL 2024 venue was established in 1969 and has drawn huge crowds hence. 

The vibrant ambience, pleasant weather, the small boundaries and the high-scoring matches are the various factors that work in favour of this venue. 

6. Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

This IPL 2024 venue has the unique distinction of being the largest stadium in the world with the ability to host 1,32,000 spectators. The stadium, also known as the Motera Stadium, was renovated and transformed into a world-class venue with modern facilities that can cater to various sporting events. 

The venue was renamed to honour the Indian Prime Minister and is the home ground of the Gujarat Titans. 

Secondary Venues

1. Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

This stadium has been the home ground of the Rajasthan Royals since 2008. Located in Jaipur and possessing a seating capacity of 30,000 people, it has witnessed numerous domestic, international and IPL matches. 

The IPL 2024 venue has ample facilities and is easily accessible to cricketing fans to experience the thrill of IPL matches. 

2. Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium, Mullanpur

This newly built stadium will be the home ground of the Punjab Kings from this edition of IPL instead of the I.S. Bindra PCA stadium. The IPL 2024 venue will host its first match on March 23, 2024, and 33000 people will be able to experience the new world-class environment. 

One of the salient features of this stadium is the herringbone system which can drain rainwater within 25 to 30 minutes and the ground is made of sand instead of soil. 

3. Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (RGICS), Hyderabad

The IPL 2024 venue was constructed in 2003 and has a seating capacity of 55000 spectators. The stadium, stretching over 16 acres of land in Hyderabad's suburb Uppal, is home to the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. 

Minor Venues

1. Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium (BRSABV), Lucknow

The IPL 2024 venue, also known as the Ekana Cricket Stadium, is the fifth largest stadium in India with a seating capacity of 50000 people. 

Built in 2017 in Lucknow, it is the home ground of Lucknow Super Giants and has the longest straight boundaries in India. 

2. Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam:

The picturesque IPL 2024 venue in Visakhapatnam was built in 2003 as a multipurpose stadium but is now predominantly used for cricket. The stadium was built amidst hills and has two tiers that offer an unrestricted viewing experience to the audience. 

27,500 fans can be accommodated in the stadium. Plans are in place to increase the capacity to 36,000 people.
